The ICMAB is a research institute of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the largest research organization of Spain focusing on basic and applied research. Its mission is to generate new knowledge in Materials Science through excellent scientific research useful for society and industry. 

Chalmers has developed leading research in the areas of life sciences, materials science, information technology, micro-and nanotechnology, environmental sciences and energy. Chalmers hosts the Swedish Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Centre (SHC) - an academic/industry network directed towards Electromobility.

With more than 10.000 researchers and 10% of the national scientific production this is a unique environment, fostering synergies in higher education, research, innovation and social and cultural projection. The studies offered at the Complutense University include courses adapted to the European Higher Education Area, with degrees grouped in Arts and Humanities, Sciences, Health Sciences, Social and Legal Sciences, and Engineering.

The largest organization for applied research in Europe undertakes applied research of direct utility to private and public enterprise and of wide benefit to society. Future-oriented strategic research commissioned by the government and public authorities is carried out with the aim of promoting innovations in key technologies of economic and social relevance over the next five to ten years.
